Video on the web

Internet video has revolutionized media, the internet and the way people gather information. Webvideo is the name for video that is viewable using the internet. With the widespread use of broadband Internet, videos are easier to send, receive and watch.

The increased popularity of these web videos has spawned the creation of many video-sharing websites focusing entirely on offering free video clips to users. Many established and corporate sites are also adding video clip content to their websites.

Some video content is taken from established media and includes: news, sporting events, historical videos, music videos, television programs and film trailers.

Much of the video content on the web is user generated; meaning it is produced by the community or an individual. Some individuals host their created works on "vlogs." A vlog is a blog that uses video clips instead of written text to convey messages and spread information.

Podcasts are another way in which individuals and corporations are using web videos to spread information. Podcasting is a method of publishing video or audio files to the internet; users can subscribe to the podcast and receive new videos automatically.
